Day 3: God Made You

Bible Verse: God made me and shaped me with His own hands. Psalm 119:73 (paraphrased)

CD: DAY 3 ASSEMBLY VAMP (track #?)

HINT: Day 3 is designated as a “RAIN DAY” at Camp Moose Feather Falls. All the songs and sound efx will contain thunder and rain sounds. Have fun with this by dressing your Camp Staff in rain gear and having them wet down their heads before appearing on stage. Any effects you can add to maintain the illusion of a rainy day will add to the fun.

KODIAK: (AN UMBRELLA APPEARS FROM THE TRASH BIN. AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF PAUSE HIS HEAD APPEARS UNDER THE UMBRELLA AND HE LOOKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. SEEING NOBODY ONSTAGE HE TAKES THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASSUME CONTROL.) Well, looks like I’m in charge today. Hullo, campers. Welcome to day...uh...day...what day is it? (CAMPERS RESPOND) Oh yeah, welcome to day 3 at Camp Mister Bear. (CAMPERS RESPOND) Huh? (CAMPERS RESPOND) I know, I know. It’s Camp Moose Feather Falls, but since I’m in charge today, I think we should call it Camp Mister Bear, don’t you? Ooh! Ooh! You know what? (CAMPERS RESPOND “NO. WHAT?”) Huh? Oh. I think, since I’m in charge, everybody should take off their shoes. Go on, take off your shoes and...

CAMP DIRECTOR: (HURRIES IN, VERY WET) Wait a minute. Don’t take your shoes off, campers. And if you already got them off, put them back on. (TO KODIAK) Kody, what are you up to?

KODIAK: Oh! Uh, nuthin. Just talking to the campers, here, and uh, waiting for you... ...AND you know what? (CAMPERS RESPOND “NO. WHAT?”) Yeah, well, I was telling them NOT to take off their shoes but they weren’t listening to me. (POINT TO A SPECIFIC AREA OF THE AUDIENCE) Especially that group right there.

CAMP DIRECTOR: I think we’ve talked about this sort of thing before, haven’t we, Kody? You know you aren’t supposed to pretend to be in charge.

KODIAK: Yeah, well...

CAMP DIRECTOR: And I heard you tell them to take off their shoes.

KODIAK: Oh...you heard that, huh?

CAMP DIRECTOR: Yes, I did. Why did you do that?

KODIAK: I didn’t want to be the only one.

CAMP DIRECTOR: The only one? The only one what?

KODIAK: The only one with BEAR feet! (LAUGHS HEARTILY) Get it? Bear feet? (LAUGHS MORE) See...I’m a bear so I always have BEAR feet!

CAMP DIRECTOR: (NOT LAUGHING) Yes, yes. I get it. Bear feet.

KODIAK: I think your sense of humor must’ve gotten wet. By the way...you look great today. Smile. (Produces camera and snaps a picture) It’s a Kodiak moment.

CAMP DIRECTOR: (POSES AND THEN CHANGES THE SUBJECT) Thanks. Speaking of getting wet, how come you aren’t wet? It’s been raining all day.

KODIAK: Oh, I know, but we woodland creatures know when rain is coming and prepare for it.

CAMP DIRECTOR: Of course. God made you with special instincts about that sort of thing.

KODIAK: That’s right. So when dark clouds are in the sky, our God given instincts tell us to check the Weather Channel for the forecast. That’s the way God made us.

CAMP DIRECTOR: I think you may be pulling my leg a bit, Kody. But it’s great that you brought up our theme for today, which is, “God Made You.”

KODIAK: God made me what?

CAMP DIRECTOR: No, no. no...just “God Made You.” God made us all...bears, forests, people...We are all a part of His creation. And you know what? (CAMPERS RESPOND: “NO. WHAT?”) I think we should celebrate that. So, Let’s get Song Leader ___ and the Poison Ivy Itch and Scratch Dancers out here to help us sing.
